New Air Seychelles cabin crew graduate
A group of 18 new Air Seychelles cabin crew have been presented with their certificates following a six-week training course on inflight cabin services and safety procedures.
The training was led by the cabin services and flight operations training instructors at the airline’s training academy.
The course covered inflight services and safety procedures, customer care, dangerous goods regulations, aviation security and basic restraining techniques, flight-time limitations, grooming, first aid and duty-free sales.
The recruits – who had been selected from over 200 applicants – carried out their emergency flight procedures and evacuations drill at the Air Mauritius inflight training centre.
The presentation, held last Friday at the Seafront Restaurant of the International Conference Centre, was attended by Minister for Education, Employment and Human Resources Macsuzy Mondon.
Awards were made to the five best performers by Air Seychelles’ executive chairman Captain David Savy, while the airline’s head of cabin services Melanie Berry presented the new flight attendants with their certificates.
Ms Berry said the role of cabin crew is vast and includes things not many people are aware of. The group have shown all the key skills that make exceptional cabin crew, she added.
“When you get onboard the aircraft and the doors close, you become doctors, nurses, waiters, chefs, duty-free experts, travel advisers, counsellors, entertainers, friends and, of course, ambassadors for both Air Seychelles and your country,” she said.
“Every one of the Air Seychelles trainers who have been involved in your training will be watching over you as your career progresses and will continue to provide coaching and support as your careers go from strength to strength.”
The graduates were also presented with their cabin crew wings by inflight service delivery manager Françoise Hoareau.
Vanessa Laurence was presented with the best overall performer award, and Yhoni Farabeau took the best male performer award.
Beverly Michel and Mary Bridget Sopha took the best female awards, while the most improved performer award went to Tyrie Philoe.
Air Seychelles now employs some 130 Seychellois cabin crew on its international operations network.
